Every design file should carry its own record.
A Design Passport records who made a CAD or BIM file, what you may do with it, and which licensed professional stood behind it. The file stays with you.
What a Design Passport is
Drop a file. You get a certificate and a .passport.json sidecar that travels with it. Five things inside.
- 1Identity. A SHA-256 fingerprint, with author, tool, date and an AI-assisted flag, anchored on a public chain. We never take the file.
- 2License. A pointer to the plain-language license that travels with the file. The record is not the license.
- 3Lineage. What the file was derived from, and what was derived from it.
- 4Seal. A signed attestation from the licensed engineer or architect who reviewed or adopted it. The seal stays in their hands; the passport records that it happened.
- 5Receipt. When a license is issued, to a person or to a software agent, the passport records it.
Why now
Geometry is being generated faster than anyone can account for it. Autodesk trained Project Bernini on 10 million 3D shapes and shipped Neural CAD into Fusion and Forma in June 2026. RIBA reports 74% of UK practices now use AI on projects. None of it carries a signature: no CAD vendor ships Content Credentials on 3D files.
Agents can now read live models and pay for things. Autodesk released the Revit Public MCP Server on 2026-06-17. x402 logged 165 million transactions by April 2026. Every documented use case is an API, a subscription, or a retail SKU. Nobody has pointed those rails at a drawing.
Insurers and regulators are asking for provenance. E&O carriers began filing AI exclusions effective 1 January 2026; carve-backs are being negotiated for firms that can show documented review and licensed sign-off. The EU's Digital Product Passport arrives for batteries in February 2027, with construction products a named priority sector. Both want a record.
Who it's for
Designers and firms. Prove authorship and the AI-assisted flag on every deliverable before a client or a lawyer asks.
Licensed engineers and architects. When you adopt another engineer's plans under Florida 61G15-27.001, you document the rework and send the certified letter. The passport adds a signed attestation to the record you already keep.
AI-tool and agent builders. A registry your agent can check before it reuses geometry, and, when licensing opens, a receipt it can keep.
Insurers and owners. An audit trail that answers who drew it, who reviewed it, and whether a machine touched it.
What it is not
Not a file host. We store a fingerprint and metadata. The file never leaves your systems.
Not a marketplace, yet. Licensing geometry to people and agents comes later, gated on cleared rights and buyer screening.
Not a substitute for a seal. A passport records that a licensed professional took responsible charge; it cannot create that. We will not sell it as "seal-ready." Responsible charge is human work. The chain is plumbing.

One email when the tool ships. Nothing else, and we never share the list.
